In which we say goodbye to a friend

I tried and tried and tried to find the right words to say goodbye to our sweet Molly, but there are no right words. Some people might say she was just a dog...those people aren't dog-owners, and don't know how much more than "just" a dog a dog can actually be.

Molly was our friend. An important part of our family. And we will miss her.

I took this photo yesterday.
Even at the very end, she was a guard dog.

Oh, Leah. I am so sorry. I've lost a dog and it's most definitely losing a family member. Judging by the pictures, though, you all shared some very happy memories. You have my deepest condolences.

I am so, so sorry, Leah. I know the pain that comes with having to say goodbye to a furry family member. Please take the time to grieve in your own way and don't listen to those who might urge you to get over it. ((hugs)) Something I've done in the past that has helped was to make a donation in the pet's name to an animal shelter.

Mankind was truly lucky when dogs decided to barter food for unconditional love. You're right, they're never 'just' a dog - best friends and family members bundled up in one adorable package. Hugs to all of you, especially Zoe. And make sure to give Quentin extra snuggles - not only will it make you feel better, but I'm sure he's missing Molly, too.

Was she given away or did something happen? When she is standing there like a guard dog she looks healthy, so what happened? more details...

I never did get back online to say thanks for all the kind and supportive comments. Anonymous - Molly passed away last Thursday. She was old - almost 14 - and cancer had eaten away her insides. The "guard dog" photo was during her 20 minute rally the day before. It was the only time she was upright that day.

My prior post had talked about what was going on, and honestly, I couldn't have included details here. Not when I wrote it. It was too close.
